Browns Watson status check 2025/2026

Worst trade in NFL history. No question. I'm not saying it was necessarily a stupid trade. There's always going to be an IF in that trade. Unfortunately, we didn't get the guy we traded for.

But is Watson washed up? He turns 30 in September, not old for a QB.

I think it's 100% about his head. Is he seriously interested in making a comeback? He's got bank. Where's the drive?
He's literally not shown any passion for playing in Cleveland since he got here.
But I'm still not ruling him out.
Give it up dude.. This POS is dead... Why are you so ardent in defending him?

Marty...@Martin Eden. We know where you're going to end up. This is more about at what point is Watson off the team. His contract has a lot to do with that. That's it.

Yeah. . . naw. . . you have no idea where I'm going to "end up."

Watson's play in Cleveland has never had anything to do with Baker. We made the trade because we thought we were getting a top 5 NFL QB and we didn't think Baker would ever be a legitimate franchise QB. We were wrong, but at the time, Watson had been a top 5 NFL QB and Baker was not a franchise NFL QB. In the end, the trade would have been worth it had Watson been the Watson we thought he was. The reason it's the worst NFL trade ever is because of Watson's horrible play here. But I never predicted that Watson was going to suck. And he's still not that old, turns 30 in September. If he had his heart in it, youneverknow. But's he's never shown any heart as a Brown, other than that one 2nd half against the Ravens.

No doubt if he didn't have to lose out on the rest of that season, it was something to build on. Big comeback, bad wheel, against a division rival, in THEIR house. Highest high since he arrived in Cleveland. Sitting at 6-3.

Too much time away from the game on the field. Not one complete season in Cleveland. The team needs to move on from that stench as quickly as possible. I wish he would swallow his pride and retire. His time is finished.

Damn old man!!!

A WW2 reference in a Watson thread?!!

Thats Nice Reaction GIF by MOODMAN

Why as a
Suffering franchise do we need to bludgeon ourselves to death like this in every qb thread?

Watson sucks and Bakers gone.

No one is arguing that.
Offseason is tough but preseason makes me want to …..
I ran out of superlatives ha!
Honestly, I'm not beating myself up over it. You know I lurk, and I comment here and there. I'm excited for the season. I know we are gonna see some awesome football, but probably not a lot of it will be played by Cleveland.

I wanted to move on from Baker, and I also wish he would have gotten/taken the chance to prove me wrong. but Watson should not have been the one to replace him. While one reason for not wanting Watson was his off-field issues, that should have just been a red-line for the organization. Another is the NFL game progresses so fast, that missing so much time was the second half of that huge risk. That part alone, was the exact opposite of a small gamble. HE DIDN'T EVEN WANT TO BE IN CLEVELAND.

I'd obviously rather be watching 8th-year Baker, or a 2nd-3rd year draft pick who took his job.

We've always pounded the table about continuity/consistency. The Browns finally had some, and then they scrapped it.

I didn't make those decisions. I just wanna move far away from that era of Browns football as quickly as possible.

Yeah, yeah, yeah.
This is the part where the team rebuilds his image and his health and try to determine his value before they cut or trade him.

That's interesting. Wonder if we could get a 5th out of him, whilst eating damn near all the money, in a trade. Just to declutter the joint.

He just got married. He needs to have a kid and use that as motivation to make the greatest comeback in sports history.

"I want to thank Cleveland Browns fans for accepting me back, for giving me another chance. I got married, had a son, and realized I was born to lead this franchise to a Super Bowl. And now that has happened. . . ." -- Deshaun Watson, after winning the 2027 Super Bowl.

And then the alarm clock went off and I had to get out of bed.
