Browns Watson status check 2025/2026

We're paying him, so we should play him if he's healthy. And okay, if Jimmy wants the insurance money, sit him all season and let him rehab. And guess what? He's on the team next year too. 100% chance. No one is going to trade for him. We are not going to cut him. We are going to pay him AGAIN next season. Why wouldn't we let him try to play?

You want to infuriate the fan base more don't you?... Are you Autistic?

The more I think about this, the more I think we should give him a shot. He turns 30 next month. We don't need to hurry him back from the 2nd surgery. Lots of questions: How does he move? How much of his elusiveness is gone? How is his head?

I think the hand job scandal shook him. He wasn't ready. Perhaps getting married is a sign he's moved on from the scandal.

We've invested so much in him: 3 1st round picks, 1 3rd, and 2 4ths, plus Baker Mayfield, really.

We're not going very far this year. I'm hoping for a miracle season, but. . . I'm not very optimistic.
So if Watson is ready to play late in the year and we're done for the playoffs, why not put him in?

Jimmy doesn't give a fuck about money, so screw the insurance, let's see what he's got.

Jimmy does give fuck about 40 mil! And when the question becomes play Watson for the last time ever in a Browns uniform to see what happens or collect 40 mil, Jimmy ain't that dumb. It would be cheaper for him to hire a guy for $50,000 to stomp Watson's ankle and send Watson out to pasture.

Dude, if Jimmy has proven anything, it's that he don't give a fuck about the money.

And even if Jimmy wants the money, he's still here next year.

Its pretty simple on Watson long term. If between now and when cap wise it makes sense to release him, if he looks like HOU Watson he'd be given a shot. If he doesn't they will release him when it makes sense cap wise.

Right/wrong, fair/not fair, at the end of the day for players it is the a meritocracy NFL. Ability/Production will almost outweigh anything.

If laying your lunch money, id be betting on Watson getting released eventually.

They're going to draft a 1st round QB next year. Watson will not be allowed to contaminate the kid as much as possible. They're likely to try to increase his value in the league to work out a trade. Something like we'll pay half, or a portion, of his contract that'll be pro rated depending on games started, snaps and things like that.

The cap issues are pretty much the same if CLE trades or cuts Watson.

Contaminate? But having him around all the QBs right now....

But agre, odds are CLE will be drafting a QB in the 1st next year. The only factor Watson might play in that is how soon that guy plays
