Browns Watson vs Sanders for QB1

TL;DR version: Watson somewhat had the lead, but has now lost that lead, and Sanders hasn't looked great either, but, Sanders is at least a young healthy (and potentially) ascending player, whereas Watson is the vet who should be putting the Sanders idea to bed by now.

I just don't see any reasonable path to us extending Watson.
For me, it'd take winning the division with him clearly being the reason we did, and then win at least one playoff game.
Doesn't sound that improbable, but we we've never won the AFCN, so it must be damn hard for us.

I can't put benchmarks on players for them to either obtain or GTFO. There are so many factors that go into evaluations it's reckless if you ask me.

Just give the job to the QB who is playing the best. I don't care who it is.

Its a tough gig no matter what poor bastard we roll out there I mean
nobody has us above .500 so the QB & monken are gonna get toasted out there.
who is taking the blame? the QB & monken.
whos going to be happy with 6 games? or 7? I can tell you who won't be happy.
jimmy haslem. call me crazy but If the OFF fails along with the D? we win 5 games?
we could see jim schwartz HC of the CB in '27. :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

Watson is 30. Stafford won a Super Bowl at 33 and would have won another last year at 38 had they got by Seattle in the NFC Championship game.

The path is simple, he leads the Browns to the playoffs this year. The Browns could then franchise him or sign a short term deal. They could still draft their QB next season and give him a year or two to develop while being making he playoffs and being competitive - OR - they could move up and draft Jeremiah Smith and be lethal in 2028 and have plenty of fire power to sell fans for 2029.

Will Watson perform at that level? Who knows? I don't know. You don't know. The FO doesn't know. But if he does... he still has plenty of years in the tank and QB is solved.

I'm confident he'll never be the top 5 QB he once was. I'm pretty sure he's at best going to be a top 20 QB. I'm extremely confident this is his last year in Cleveland.

It very well could be... and it might be the most likely scenario. But to ignore that there is a possibility it could go the other way is just flat out being obtuse.
