I think AB is trying to increase Watson's value in the hopes we get something in return. All it takes is an injury to another teams QB and voila!

No AB has a tiny bit of leverage to work with.
 
Yeah it's a tiny chance & Watson isn't doing him favors, until he shows he's better than Sanders and another team sees Watson as a temp QB for a month or so that can stabilize things.

Sanders having problems getting the offense in & out of the huddle is huge at the NFL level.

If that is true.

At the NFL level that is high school stuff he should have mastered back then. Having Monken or the OC drill that BS into an NFL QB in his 2nd year is a red flag.

Sanders isn't doing AB or Monken any favors either by being nearly the same as Watson.

Yeah, but Sanders is cheap, has room for growth, and we can tell that he wants it. Watson is shadow of himself, in a league that is far advanced from what he was drafted into. 4 years of not being able to grow with the league, and creeping up on 10 years since he was drafted = he's washed/cooked. I still think he should swallow his pride and just retire.

Most QBs aren't successful on their second team and beyond, especially if they weren't very successful with their first team. We can point at Warner, Brady, Manning, Brees, Stafford as the exceptions, and then flip that over to point at Russell, Ryan, Favre, Rodgers, McNabb, RGIII as the standard, and even still turn around and point at Darnold the lone "did it on my fifth team" QB.

Play Sanders, see if he can grow into the role. There is no VS at this point.
 
A vet QB always has value.

The value is debatable but there is value.

If somebody wanted the Browns to pay half his salary and AB was willing to do that, he absolutely has value. Particularly if his salary is 50 mil and cut to 25 mil. Now a lot more teams will consider it and the Browns have another 25 mil to play with.

Okay, fair point, the guy we're paying 50 million is worth at best a 5th or a 6th round draft pick. As I said, no one's giving us jack shit for Watson.
 
I'm very excited to see what Sanders can do this season. This is how Baker should have handled his first off-season. Sanders has done everything right since he got here (other than occasionally driving a little fast). He's a 5th round draft pick. And he could be our guy for the next decade. If he's good enough. And given the Watson fiasco, our best outcome would be finding a 5th round top ten guy.

That said, I don't expect him to be top ten this season. Top 15 this year would be awesome.
