Been gone for a while everyone. Hoping this year was the year Watson was finally NOT our QB. Oh well.
Not sure if this has been posted, but it turns out Watson has a 'poison pill' in his contract. If he is on the active roster on March 13, 2027 he has a $200M salary fully guaranteed in 2029. In other words, doesn't matter what he does, the Browns cannot honor that contract! It can be restructured to avoid it, but Watson will have to agree to it...and that means he has to do it before March 13, 2027....and it all but guarantees it is a 3+ year $200+M contract.
So why are they playing him? May be they are about to trade Sanders to add ammo for the 2027 draft.
