Actually, I was paid for my opinion and wrote for 247 Sports for 4 years...and yes, I was credentialed and on the sidelines and in the press box for 4 years. So scouting and writing about recruits and college football...and getting paid for it...does make me more experienced, and my opinion more informed than your neighbor or postman.

But thanks for coming out!

christ, its a verbatim quote from the infamous tobin rant. Its a joke.
but you still couldnt help pulling your dick out? you dont know anymore than anyone else buddy.
you just think you do.pro scouts get it wrong every year.let me guess you're better than them too? LMFAO

Objectively, I do know much more than your average fan. However, I know plenty of folks who know a lot more than me. Do you know what I do? I don’t call them stupid or tell them they don’t know what they’re talking about. I pick their brains and learn from them.

Of course, everybody gets things wrong. They are humans making calls on humans playing a game with many variables. If it was easy to get every call correct, no scout, coach or GM would ever get fired.

Alot can happen between Picks 1-43, including if the Browns stay at 44. He is projected to be there at 44 but Christian Watson impresses me. He ran a 4.36 at the Combine and I think his vertical was 38. Obviously his competition was bad but he was blowing away everyone on the field. That is definitely a risk and normally not a big fan of the 1-AA or whatever they call it now, but 6'4 208 with that speed is really impressive and his on the field play is impressive

The best way to evaluate talent is to watch players in games. That of course assumes you know what you are watching which most people dont not even NFL scouts based on some of the horrendous drafting that occurs. Football is the easiest sport to evaluate out of the 3 major sports

I talked to a Browns scout years ago. He said if you want to be a scout the first thing to do is watch games. Note the level of competition of the teams involved and get film of the player being scouted on his worst game and best game.

Speed size quickness smarts. I watched a 30 second clip of Danny Shelton and knew he sucked. He had ZERO quickness. You compare him vs Vince Wilfork. Wilfork was huge but quick as a cat. Watched Njoku bobble a pass when he was wide open vs Duke, that wasnt a good sign. He ended up catching the pass. 1st round picks dont bobble passes wide open against Duke. Dont even get me started on Corey Coleman and Baker Mayfield. Ward too small. Newsome did nothing special in any game. Also missed alot of games due to injury. That actually gets worse in the NFL. JOK blatantly quit vs Alabama on a play and made ZERO impact in that game. I dont know why the Browns love drafting midgets. Makes no sense at all especially on Defense. James Hudson another super slow weak OL. Holy crap I have no idea what the hell they see in him. TJ Watt abused him all game long

I always look at games first, then if I like what I see, what did this player do in Big Games, does he choke like Mayfield did vs Georgia, or does he go beast Mode Like Watson did vs Alabama 2x. What did the player do in games where he faces equal or better talent. Does he fold like a deck of cards or does he rise to the challenge? Thats where you gauge a players talent and mental toughness. Who gives a fuck if at Oklahoma you throw for 600 yards vs Kansas, Rice or Tulsa

Remarkable.
Those games would be the first I would throw out.
I wouldnt put too much value in a game where they find one or two matchup nightmares to exploit or, contrarily, where a player has a bad game because is playing with the flue or something that keeps him from performing at his normal level.

In statistical analysis its better to throw out the weird outliers because they are not representative of what you are looking for.

For a scout to focus on the outliers... you would come with a really weird scouting report.

The one QB I Love is Kenny Pickett from Pitt. If the Browns didnt have Watson he would be my choice as the QB to take in this Draft.

I don't like any of the QB's in the draft. But Pickett is probably the best overall prospect. Basically a poor man's Carr.

But if the Browns didn't have Watson, I wouldn't want them to draft any QB's from this draft. It's just an awful QB draft.
