Browns - Why Sanders slid | Barking Hard

Browns Why Sanders slid

OconRecon

If you're juiceless, you're useless
Adam Caplan on radio today (and other collective sources)
  • He claims nearly everyone had him ranked at best in the 1st round, and at worst, the 3rd.
  • "Character issues" is what he summarized as the reason for the fall
  • There was a question on how hard he'd work
  • How committed he was to being an NFL QB
  • How much he loved the game
  • He got bad draft advice ... from not interviewing with non-QB-needy teams to not participating in the Sr Bowl fully or the Combine.
  • He's the son of a Hall of Famer, and that is something totally unique, and therefore, somewhat of an unknown.
  • He's a unique personality. Not moldable in the traditional young way. Created another hesitation. Coming off as non-green raises questions on coachability.
You mix all that together, and he slid 2-3 rounds. Mendoza, by comparison, has none of these concerns. Graybeards feel most at ease with a Mendoza type. No need to compare Sanders stats vs Mendoza's, as from what Caplan is saying, stats and game film were not the story.

I suppose we all know this.

However, the reassuring thing, to this point, none of these concerns have come to light. He's been a model citizen tbh. He endured the QB4 stuff. Came in early to do 1-on-1's with Stefanski. Players love him. Monken seems all in. He's around the facility more than any other rostered QB. The circus? Didn't happen other than the loud minority on X. Oh, he did get a speeding ticket. But, Watson's Insta, Burrow's many GF's, Rodgers' weirdness, the Mahomes family (that brother), etc etc all have public image social lives that are more distracting than Sanders. Shedeur's instagram is 90% football/work-out picks with the occasional event posts. https://www.instagram.com/shedeursanders/

So, if you/we feel the character concerns aren't really there any longer (and they're at least greatly minimized), then it just comes down to talent and desire.

Caplan claims everyone thought his game tape was round 1-3 worthy. So, it's up to him to work and grind. If he's willing to do that with Monken, and AB shores up the offensive players, then why not roll with him as QB1 from the jump here in 2026. Don't bring in a washed up vet like Cousins and don't overdraft Ty Simpson.

Thoughts? Seem about right?

It sounds like he pissed off a lot big wigs.

Character issues? Caplan made him seem like prick then backed off.

I don’t know if he’ll amount to much as a qb but he’s pretty much done all the right stuff since getting drafted.

wrong. (arnolds voice)
he is as kiper said the #1 or #2 QB in the draft.slam dunk 1st rd talent period.
& he played like a #1 overall! he did.so believe your lying eyes cleveland.lets not
be waiting for the messiah when he has already arrived.like the jews! :ROFLMAO:

most of this is politics & reputation not FB.grossi changes his mind 3 months after
sanders took a snap? what changed ? only his personal bias. case & point right there.

Whatever the reason, if he works out, him falling to us in the 5th would help mitigate the pain from the Watson fiasco, kind of like Purdy relieved the pain of their Trey Lance trade/pick. I like Sanders. He's not afraid to let it rip down the field. I was pleasantly surprised with his pocket presence and movement. Given a better offensive line and receivers and a decent running game, I think Sanders has a chance to be a good NFL starter.

mitigate the pain from the Watson fiasco

I read somewhere the plan with Watson always was he'd be 1) the long term starter, then when his time was over, 2) we'd draft a rookie to play through his voided years on a rookie deal.

Basically, we're on to step 2, after stumbling through step 1.

And I guess if Sanders doesn't work out, we keep drafting QB's until we hit on one to play though the Watson void years.

I heard that Kaplan interview too.

My issue with Sanders is he wasn't ready to play when called upon initially. That matches up with he has a case of the lazies and doesn't work.

Sometimes when it's taken away from you it makes you stronger. That's what I'm hoping for this coming season. Give Sanders a ton of rope.

On a sidenote it shows KS had good cause to not start Sanders. If the job was given to him he might not have been up to doing the work.

he didn't interview well. his dads the ali of FB.=arrogant/entitled/lazy
but unfortunately for them their assumptions where just that.
he played well despite "insert excuses here" and seems to be
(with #21 watching like a hawk) working his offseason tail off.
this year he gets to clown the other 31 teamss GM's for real.
5th rd :ROFLMAO:
