Williams and Wimbley being "actively shopped"...

Thats kind of shitty on Mangini & Daboll's part. Despite all appearances (& posts) to the contrary, I'm not trying to deflect all blame from Quinn, and I know as a player you should kind of defer to the coaches, but Daboll is a rookie OC. Even before he's clearly shown he's not ready to be an OC (maybe ever), why is he automatically immune from a suggestion or two - especially as a rookie? I doubt Quinn was trying to re-invent the wheel. And while it's not in the NFL, Quinn does have a successful resume (yes I know it can be picked apart and taken out of context however anyone so desires but there is success there). What does Daboll have to his credit? (According to [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brian_Daboll"]his wiki[/ame], not very much outside of several positions on a successful team. Was it Tom Brady who turned the NE WR corps full of nobodys into Super Bowl winners/heroes or was it Brian Daboll? Doing anything but merely reading over that last question will cause a nosebleed, so don't even attempt to think about it.

I agree. Some of the biggest stretches I've ever seen from a Browns head coach. I'm not sure what Quinn did to piss him off as I really thought Quinn was a Mangini type of player. Hard working, publically a team guy, film studier, etc. I can't figure it out.

I wouldn't be suprised if he trades Quinn for a song after those comments
.

Through the grapevine i've heard that Daboll had plays designed for the deep ball, supposedly Quinn didn't throw deep 4 straight times when the play was called. Hence his benching at second half.

This info was from a Browns scout, not a DA lover. No i don't have a link. The guy said that in 3 of those instance there was a receiver open and Quinn just would not go deep.
Is there a possibility that Quinn is hiding an injury? Things just don't add up with Quinn this year. Before he got hurt last year i like many was impressed with the way the team moved the ball. This team is really screwed up.

Some interesting news here...I'm not sure I'll be able to get through this day!

I had read that everyone on the defensive line was 'available' for the right price...except Shaun Rogers.

in a move that would please absolutely no one in the short term but would definitely help us build for the future, if i'm mangini, i'm trading shaun rogers. he's easily the best player on the team, and it would be waving the whitest flag this side of poland 1939, but rogers is nearing 30, this team is going nowhere for at least this and next season, and, if there's ever a year to have two first-round picks, it's 2010.

rogers doesn't want to waste the best years of his career in futility, and we have an opportunity to sell high on him and get more building blocks for the future, a future that he doesn't have a long enough career to be a part of. rogers is a great player right now, but the browns are completely abysmal. by the time they're decent, he could very well be worth nothing. mangini needs to sell high, make the tough call, and get what he can for the future.

this will, of course, never happen.

JD...as much as I hate the idea, you make a very good point!

As far as trading away talent its more like we are trading away malcontent and unhappy players and thats going to be most of them that are under lerners design on the team and organization...his in house secrecy policies are absurd and restrictive for starters..

The continual losing record isn't helping either (re: Shaun Rogers). I think you'd see 'happier' players if we were winning games.

I can't say I will be surprised if Quinn is traded today. I will be more surprised if he is still a Brown come 5pm. But I have a feeling some of the little 'maneuvers' of the past week (house put on market, etc) have NOT gone over well in Berea.

Someone on the old board paraphrased an OBR report that said there was some anti-Quinn sentiment in the locker room because BQ spent so much time working with Daboll this spring & summer. I guess the feeling was that Quinn was doing more than just preparing to run the offense - he was monopolizing the OC's time and trying to get an unfair leg up in the competition.

Per the same paraphrasing, Quinn lost the support of Mangini and Daboll when he suggested changes to the offensive gameplan. Not sure why exactly that pissed off the coaching staff so much; maybe it was because they were already frustrated with how he was running the offense.

Interesting Alo...on the one hand you would think that the kind of aggressiveness shown by spending so much time with the OC and doing everything he could to learn the new system would have been a GOOD thing. Sounds like someone's ego got a little bruised.

In the end, Quinn needs to go.

I'm disappointed that Mangini thinks DA is 'the guy'...I swear I'm not seeing the benefit. He reminds me of fools gold. I think that should be his new nickname now. Derek "Fools Gold" Anderfumbleception.

*sigh*

I remember reading that there was bad blood between Bernie and Marty because Bernie felt he was to conservative rather than being aggressive.
All of these things we didnt know at the time but have been revealed and Bernie was allowed to do and create whatever plays he wanted to on offense but im sure there was a prove it philosophy before he was given that kind of freedom.
Daboll is a horrible offensive coach and he wont be here next year.
As far as what team members get traded I dont want to comment on anymore till the dust settles this evening but the rumer mill is churning out some crazy scenarios rate now.

After reading this thread this morning, I threw up in my mouth a little bit. If there is truth to these rumors, I have zero confidence in these team for 2010.

Masters, I'll go further and say minimum 3 years(including this one) before this team competes. We've all read the stories of Mangini's controlling ways so he's gonna slash and burn everything and everyone on this team until he gets what he wants. He's getting free reign on this team. Based on what we've seen since the Browns came back this might(MIGHT) be a good thing. In the meantime the fans just have to deal because I don't see him going anywhere anytime soon. bangheadbangheadbanghead

I usually try to remain positive about a new regime longer than most. But I don't see trading Wimbly as a positive move. He was a 1st round draft pick, you're not going to get value for him. and I actually saw him as one player who seemed to be IMPROVING under mangini's reign.

I agree with JD, I could see trading Rodgers. This is likely going to be a painful two years. and Rodgers is known to start to dog it if he's losing and not happy. He's played his heart out here for us so far, but long range he's not going to be here when this might get good. Reward Shawn for his hard work and get a pick in return.

Damn man... shit is looking like it's going to blow up tonight. I hope we trade 'em all. Get the team's value down to zero, let's get some blackouts, that'll just lead to Lerner selling the team, which is the only thing that'll fix this franchise... right Ghoolie? :)

Wimbley is affordable and is doing better for Mangini than he did for RAC.
If we can afford 2 1st rounders next year than definately trade Rodgers.
