NFL Draft #156 WR JAMARI THRASH, Louisville

The scouts know if an incompletion is more so on the QB or the WR almost all of the time.

In two years, I've yet to see a catch by Bell that bailed out the QB for instance or see D Jones blocking 10 yards downfield or signs of leadership by Wills. If that was something the staff is looking for.

Brissett navigates fading pass to Bell on fourth-down pickup

i am not trying to prop him up. Bell is a 3/4/5 WR depth chart guy and i dont think will ever be more than that. He is a Higgins. Never going to be a focal point, does his job as far running good routes/knowing and executing his assignment, blocks, and I suspect good in the meeting room.
 
Watching that highlight tape actually highlights how he catches the ball with his body a lot and on the one TD throw the announcer says, " a pinpoint throw by Jeff Driscoll".

This shows catching the ball is a valuable trait and that he can at least catch the ball when DB's ignore him.

The week 18 has a bunch of bailing his QB out on throws behind, short, and go get it balls.

But I don't believe he will ever be the guy you regularly go to like that. Week 18 is a bit of a good example of Higgins comp. When a guy who really is not the guy is maybe the best guy out there they can look like they should be/are more than actually are.
 
If Bell is good why doesn't he produce? We can go back & forth with BS questions.

Bell can't separate. Bell can't run past defenders. Bell is not physical. Bell has to be schemed open and the ball has to be on point for him to catch it. You like that type of WR, so he's your guy. Aka dependable.

He's a 3-5 guy depth chart guy. You just described 90% of the WR who are 3-6 on the depth chart in the NFL.

Again I am not trying to prop him up. Hence back to the he is similar to who Higgins was for the Browns.

I just dont believe in tearing down a guy for not being who fans expect.

Why doesn't Bell produce? Where he is on the depth chart, those above him, and targets. If Bell was "producing " (say like week 18 of last season) that would mean Cooper, Chief, Chubb, Moore, and now Judy have all gone down. When Bell or whoever else is 4th and down on the WR depth chart is on the field they are most likely not the primary, secondary, or 3rd read on any pass.

I don't believe Bell will ever be more than 3 anywhere. That's still better than Woods today or likely any day in the future.
 
I've not seen Bell high-point a contested catch. He's the definition of serviceable.
I'm okay with him though, but that's it, just okay.
And he's a catcher of the ball, not some sigma3 athlete, who we hope eventually learns how to catch the ball
 
We've heard good things about Jeudy, Johnson, Tillman, and Thrash so far this spring. Not sure we'll add someone like Gabe Davis.
And then many are calling Fannin more than just a TE, and count him in on the receiver-room more than you traditionally would for a TE.

The Browns could be the surprise team this year.. Although based on last year.. I'm not expecting much... As you know I have been extremely critical.. But with guarded optimism.. Every season is new.. The things that interest me are... Garrett after a big payday.. And Quinshon Judkins.. While he's not Nick Chubb.. he's interesting.. And my big sleeper.. Harold Fannin Jr. But if the Browns flounder.. And Chubb has a strong season... Someone has to pay for this... I'm not letting that shit slide..

My sleeper hope is getting back to Stefanski's TE heavy system (so I agree on Fannin) with a lot of pulling guards.

For example, look at the play below. THREE tight ends to the right of the formation, AND STILL, Bitonio pulls from the back side.

THAT, my friends, is my sleeper hope. We're done "working around Watson's strengths" bs. Get back to the run that we know Stefanski can do.
