Cavaliers 2025 - 2026 season

Okoro brought nothing to the table
You should watch more games.
and we needed a back-up PG given Garland's injury situation.
So you think Ball was the answer ?
As it relates to Ty Jerome, we had him a very team friendly $2.5M annual contract. He got a 3 year, $28M contract in FA, which we couldn't match with our cap situation.
That was his job to figure out, at the time.
So if you think this was a bad season for Kobe, you don't know ball.
I thought you knew something about the NFL...... till lately.

You should watch more games.

The Cavs gave up more points per game with Okoro on the floor - team defense declined. He was not a scoring threat on offense. As the #5 pick... he made no impact whatsoever on the Cavs. He was addition by subtraction.

So you think Ball was the answer ?

Who said anything about Ball being "the answer"? Try re-reading what I said, slowly this time... and try again. Maybe you'll do better.

That was his job to figure out, at the time.

So his job is to make numbers that won't work... and that the owner says "no" to... work? You might want to rethink that take.

I thought you knew something about the NFL...... till lately.
You completely whiff on a hoops take so that makes you rethink my football knowledge? LMFAO at that train of logic.

Show me that stat. thank you ........He was drafted by Koby

You ran all that together. paragraphs. I thought you were the fancy writer.

Not yet. but will admit it, if it happens.

You showing up over here out of the blue, while I have a decade of reputation behind me. I do so by not attacking others. just pointing out facts.

@madmadworld Is in love with Okoro?!!

Defensively, Cleveland’s rating with Okoro on the court usually fell between 111–117 points allowed per 100 possessions, compared to roughly 113 per 100 when he was off... meaning his defensive impact fluctuated from slightly positive in some seasons (notably 2022–23 at ~111.6) to slightly negative in others. The net result is that his overall on-court net rating was generally neutral to mildly negative across most seasons.

Isaac Okoro’s on-court offensive rating generally ranged from 104–114 points per 100 possessions, while the Cavaliers’ offense without him typically sat higher, around 109–118 per 100, indicating the team often scored more efficiently when he was off the floor.
You ran all that together. paragraphs. I thought you were the fancy writer.

I am a lot of things... a fancy writer is certainly not one of them. I would rate my writing skills around a 6/10. I am a much more fancy talker. I could debate and argue better in person, verbally than ever can writing. I just do the best I can writing.

My point wasn't that Ball was an answer. My point was, at the time, Garland had an injury and we needed a back-up PG. Ball was an affordable option who wasn't a bad distributor. He wasn't brought to Cleveland to be an "answer" or player to get the Cavs to the championship. Just a much needed depth addition.

Trading him got us within $4M of getting below the 2nd Apron - which looked impossible at the start of the season. We can now make a trade that can put us under the apron - which is shrewd business by Koby.
So you don't understand how work works.
I understand very well how this works. Basketball salary caps aren't like football salary caps.

If the Cavs would have resigned Jerome, it would have been around that $28M-$30M mark. It would have put the Cavs over $90M into the luxury tax.. and so deep into the 2nd Apron that the Cavs would not have been able to make any trades this year... which Gilbert would not sign off on. The Cavs would have been stuck in limbo with a team that needed help and could not make moves to get the help. Koby can't make a move that the owner will not sign off on. He doesn't have that kind of power.
Not yet. but will admit it, if it happens.
So far, your Harden takes are aging very poorly.
You showing up over here out of the blue, while I have a decade of reputation behind me. I do so by not attacking others. just pointing out facts.

I don't show up out of the blue. I've been on this board since 2013. But am very busy. I have 3 kids... and a career. I am in and out and show up when there are actually things to discuss. As far as the Cavs go, I was very bored with this season... and the team wasn't good... they were going to get knocked out in the 2nd round at best. Trading for Harden (and the move made prior for Ellis and Schroder) brought some excitement and hope to the season. The Cavs are actually worth watching again.

Isaac Okoro is a premier, high-intensity perimeter defender known for his ability to lock down opponents' best scorers, often causing a significant decrease in their shooting percentages. Renowned for his physicality, defensive anticipation, and skill in drawing charges, he brings elite on-ball and off-ball defensive awareness, making him a top-tier wing defender in the NBA.
Key Defensive Attributes
  • Perimeter Lockdown: Okoro consistently guards the opponent's best player, frequently forcing them into poor shooting nights, including a notable decrease in 3-point percentage.
  • Physicality & Intensity: He is known for high-energy, physical defense and is a strong, tenacious defender who thrives on disrupting rhythm.
  • Off-Ball Awareness: Beyond on-ball defense, Okoro is effective at navigating screens, rotating to help in the paint, and jumping passing lanes for deflections and steals.
  • Drawing Charges: He is highly skilled at taking charges, a key aspect of his defensive, high-hustle playstyle.
  • Versatility: He is capable of guarding multiple positions, primarily excelling against guards and small forwards.
As he joined the Chicago Bulls for the 2025-26 season, he was expected to be their premier perimeter defender.

You said you like facts - I showed you the facts that the defense was worse with Okoro on the floor. Some press writings from Chicago doesn't change that. But now you don't like facts?

I'm bored with this topic. I'm ready for the all-star break... which sucks and is boring... to be over so we can get this show back on the road. I don't think we are winning the NBA Championship, but I think we can make a deep run in the East.

Then next year could be a lot of fun.

So then you are still OK with the trade with the Bulls.

I have not been one to pick on Koby. he has done a pretty good job. but then there is this Whole Isaac Okoro thing it was a very poor pick in hindsight. there were 10 better players picked after him. we could have had Haliburton, Maxey or a hand full of others.

My point wasn't that Ball was an answer.

Then this business here. Koby has been here 8+ years it's his Cap to have to work with. not figuring out a way to keep Ty is on hi, and don't worry about Gilbert he is not t tight owner as most are. he really wants to win titles. most really don't care.
I don't show up out of the blue. I've been on this board since 2013.
You have been here 4 months longer than me. what I'm talking about is posting about the NBA. you don't have 1 post in the 2016 Championship thread or the enjoyment of it. I'm not going to search any others but don't recall any in others too ...ever.
The Cavs are actually worth watching again.
Are you kidding me this is a team coming off a 64 win season. worth watch since the Donovan trade period.

We’re damn good. Hardin is dealin’ & his post game interview he’s already talking defense, which to me, is playoff talk.

By every measure, the Cavs are the darlings of the Cleveland sports world. Well run, they spend, expanding their downtown footprint, and they win.

All of it.

Joe Tait was the absolute best play by play guy... But I must say.. John Michael is doing one hell of a job behind the mic...

So 5-0 With Harden, now the next 10 games the teams are better. see how this goes.this has been fun to watch. we were 9-2 before he got here. Chuck Now thinks we are going to the Finals. sadly he's not right a lot. big test today.

That was a game where we played well but not good enough to win. too many missed 3s. plus we just have to be more physical. complaining about it (other team being physical) ain't going to help. ref don't care.
if these guys like Kenny they better get on up. Thibodeau is out there lol

I'm going to the game tomorrow night against the Knicks.. I expect the Cavs to come out angry at home...
