God bless you guys n gals on this board!

Hello Barkers:

FXMASTER..AKA...Herb
Native Ohio boy from New Carlise transplanted to Texas.
Project Engineer for Dell Computer Corp.
Religion...Bowhunting

Im not a true die hard Browns fan, but would not mind being one.
I remember being a Sipe/Kosar fan back in the day.

Being in Texas, I have to admit that I do believe McCoy can be a good NFL QB.

I wont post often, but will occasionaly for the purpose of proving my realative ignorance of the deeper point of the game, I promise I will laugh at myselfy w/ you on the board, and cry in private.

Howdy howdy... Russiandawg is the name I go by because I am 2nd generation Russian-American, but my real name is Mike or Mikhail if you prefer...

I was born and raised in New York (Long Island to be specific) but I could never bring myself to root for the local teams. Surrounded by Giants and Jets fans, I chose to take a different path. As a kid, I rooted for the Vikings, mainly because my older brother was a Vikings fan and because at that time the Browns had been relocated. After the team returned to Cleveland, I started bleeding brown and orange and I haven't looked back.

Joined the Navy (submarine force) when I was 20 and left NY for good. Can't say I miss it. After separating from the military, I met my wife (Ohio girl - graduated from Dayton) and we moved to Tennessee. We own a home in Murfreesboro. We're both huge Cleveland Browns and Cincinnati Reds fans. My wife is a psychologist for the MR/DD (mentally retarded/developmentally disabled) and I also work in the field as a caregiver and big brother. We're involved in the Special Olympics and various other endeavors that keep us pretty busy. I'm also a 2nd Degree member of the Knights of Columbus. Vivat Jesus! to any other members reading this.

When I'm not on here discussing the Browns, I enjoy religious studies/theology, working out and playing raquetball, studying Russian language or working in the community.

As for the Browns, I am the eternal optimist. I drink the koolaid big time. I hate negativity. It's my opinion that we as fans can't control anything about our favorite team, so complaining is pointless and a waste of time. I guess that's just the military man in me.. I was taught at a young age that you shouldn't bitch... ever. Anybody who served probably knows what I am talking about. The guys who were able to let everything slide off their backs are the guys that had the easiest time. The ones who complained constantly and were filled with negativity just brought more crap onto themselves. My Dad was a career Marine and he taught me the same thing growing up. So I guess that's why I'd rather focus on the positive and ignore all the stuff that I can't do anything about.

If there's anything else you want to know, all you need to do is ask.

And welcome to all the new members, hope you jump right in to the group here. I haven't been here long, but in the few weeks I have been, I can safely say this is the best Browns board I have posted on. Good group of guys.

I've bled orange & brown for almost 50 years. B/C football is a team sport, I give more credit to TEAM players. Since the years of Metcalf, Byner, & Mack, I haven't really seen an elite running back on the Browns. I might be in for a treat, now. Trent Richardson is shaping up to be another Emmett Smith. This should prove to be interesting at the least.

Welcome to the board. It's a good group here, very tolerant of diverse opinions and views for the most part. I doubt there's a Browns community elsewhere on the net more fairly moderated. I look forward to postung with you.

I'm Cliff from the Tulsa, Oklahoma, area. I have been a Brandon Weeden fan for two years and a Browns fan since the Browns selected BW as their 22th pick in the draft. It has been fun learning the history of the Browns organization, getting to know the rest of the team, to understand why the team has been down and also why they are now on a steep incline--although not many people are aware of it yet.

I do remember reading a story about "The Toe" in Sport magazine back in the fifties as a youth, and, as a result, I briefly became a Lou Groza fan for a while. But mainly, at the time, I was more interested in Baseball players like Ted Williams, Stan Musial and Early Wynn. I have therefore lived my life of 70 years mainly oblivious to pro football--until now.

Unfortunately, I gave myself a bad handle on this board. On the Oklahoma State boards, I am "OSUfanCliff" which I think is reasonable enough. I am an OSU fan and my name is Cliff. But I thought that would be inappropriate for a Cleveland Browns board, so I decided to use a different handle. I almost went with OSUBrownsFan, but then it occurred to me that in your part of the country, here, OSU refers to Ohio State. I thought about going with "WeedFan," but that would hardly be appropriate for a straightlaced Okie like me.

So in a moment of mind blank, I chose "newBrownsFan" which seemed appropriate at the time. It did not occur to me until later that while it may be appropriate now, in a few years, it will not be so appropriate. But I guess I am stuck with it.

lmao Nice intro, and welcome aboard ...I'm really happy we drafted Weeden, and hope he can take us to the promised land. He'll become legend here if he does. If you ever want your name changed just let me know.

Welcome Cliff, great to have you among the ranks! We all arrived in the Dawg Pound via different paths, but the important thing is that we are all here. You will soon find there is not a more passionate NFL fanbase on the planet, and there isn't a better Browns community on the net than this one!

Thanks, Chief, I appreciate that. I would imagine that "OldDawgCliff" would be available. If it is, please change it to that. I think I could live with that for the long term.

Welcome, Cliff. I know a lot of fans without a local NFL team, including Angelenos, who follow their guy into the league. Seems as logical as anything.

Actually, it is probably just as well. A pro team close to a college market can hurt the college program, and I certainly don't want my OSU Cowboy football program hurt. Attendance at Sooner and Cowboy basketball games have been hurt significantly by the Oklahoma City Thunder. It is just the nature of things. And I have heard that the football programs at Cincinnati and Pittsburgh Universities have attendance problems mainly due to the Bengals and the Steelers being in the same market--and they are in much more populous regions.

The only thing is that I will probably have to get a subscription to the NFL network to watch Browns games. My guess is that Browns games are telecast regionally and I am undoubtedly outside the region. I imagine that I could watch all the Dallas Cowboy games I wanted if I was so inclined, but I will probably have to pay extra to watch the Browns. But that is okay.

(I'm certainly not going to miss watching BW make a star out of Greg Little. :))

I can't recommend the NFL package enough. I can't fathom living without it at this point. In L.A., games are at 10 a.m. and that's a little early for a bar (and there are none way up here in the northern 'burbs where I live). My daughter and son both come over to watch with me and my other son, often with boyfriends/girlfriends, which is really cool. Makes for a really nice Sunday. Hot tub after the second game passes for a shower.
