Browns Myles Garrett watch - UPDATE - TRADED TO RAMS

It was an "Okay" haul... The Clowns gave away three ones for "Mr.rub n tug happy endings' The Packers traded DL Kenny Clark and 2 successive first rounds 2026 and 27.. That's more of what I expected "Mr Ball Knower"

Did you really just compare a QB to a DE? Yikes.

Quarterback is the most important position in sports. No position has a greater impact on wins and losses than a franchise QB. A great defensive end can wreck a game, but a great quarterback changes the trajectory of an entire organization. That’s Football 101. So of course an elite quarterback is going to command a significantly larger return than an elite defensive end.

When the Browns traded for Watson, he wasn’t some average starter. He had already played four seasons, was in his prime, won Offensive Rookie of the Year, made three straight Pro Bowls, led the NFL in passing yards in his most recent full season, and held the highest career completion percentage in NFL history at the time. He was widely viewed as a Top 5 quarterback and was only 26 years old.

Whether the trade ultimately worked out is a completely separate discussion. We all know it hasn’t. But acting like the Browns paid for the version of Watson we’ve seen after multiple major injuries ignores reality. They paid for the quarterback who was one of the most accomplished young passers in football and was entering what should have been the prime of his career. That’s why the compensation was what it was.

Ball knowers know.

I predict our D will be mediocre at best. prolly bottom 5 in the NFL.
AFCN rookie DC :ROFLMAO: let that sink in. learning curves?
can we stop the run? what If we IR a CB,LB or S starter? or any D starter?
now what does this D look like? look around the division (not the even the league)
I am very concerned..when the D becomes an afterthought

I didn’t know I’d have to teach Logic 101 today, but here we are.

Your quote:

“It was an ‘okay’ haul… The Clowns gave away three 1sts for Mr. Rub-N-Tug Happy Endings.”

You made that statement while comparing the haul Cleveland received for Myles Garrett. Garrett is a DE. Watson is a QB.

So, by the basic rules of logic, when you compare the compensation received for Garrett to the compensation paid for Watson, you’re not just comparing the hauls. You’re also comparing the value of the players involved and, by extension, the value of the positions they play.

Logic 101 says you can’t separate the haul from the player that generated it. If you’re comparing a trade package for a defensive end to a trade package for a quarterback, you’re inherently comparing both the players and the positions.

Whether you intended to or not, that’s exactly what you did.

No shit Chuck..

Glad we can agree on something so elementary.
And he shit himself...

Exactly. “Was.” That’s how trades work. Teams don’t trade for what a player becomes three years later. They trade for what they believe he is at the time of the deal.

Every trade in NFL history looks different with hindsight. The compensation for Watson was based on the player he was in 2022, not the player he became afterward.

As the dust settles this trade ultimately come down to what the NFL is and that’s a business.

In NFL you either have a unicorn or you don’t. The QB is the most important part of the entire organization (for the most part)

We had Joe Thomas and Myles Garrett and went 0-16. It was nice to have MG but if the goal is to win a SB then without a doubt waiting any longer to deal MG would have led to far less return value.

Now the problem moving forward is the Jets have 3 #1’s in next years draft. Vegas has us at 6.5 wins next year and that didn’t change once we traded MG….go figure. GO BROWNS!

You conveniently left out the part where he hadn't played in almost 2 years and was buried in a massive scandal and would be punished by the league for another 10 games. It wasn't as simple a deal as you make it out to be.

Only a non ball-knower would try to convince themselves a late 1st round pick and Verse is a GREAT trade for the Browns. Hilarious.

I was listening to someone who works for the NFL this morning saying Verse is very good, but he isn't a finisher. Affects a lot of plays, but does not finish. Not coming from me, coming from a non ball knower NFL guy,

We made this trade because Myles demanded it and chose the team he wanted, We were hamstrung into making this trade. Myles immediately checked out of Cleveland the second the last game ended, Listen to his presser, it was all Myles.

I think you're right, but I also think we did pretty good, considering. Verse on a rookie contract is very valuable.

Uhh No I didn't.... Your just cherry picking shit.. I was looking at it from the point of two players both having been 1st round picks.. Not what pos they played but based on where they were drafted and by their value at the time.. Logic 101 doesn't give a fuck either way.. The deal is what it is.. You can spin it any way you like... Have a nice day!

So few Happy Times/Great Memories the past 25 + years. shortage of good & Great players will do that. at least until recently we haven't had to watch any of those players doing well on other teams. now those days are gone too.

This would be different if we were rebuilding working on going back to our third or forth SB in the past dozen or so years, but that ain't the fucking case for us friends. sick of this shit

Well if we trade Ward... We might be rebuilding...
