Dorsey (who has an amazing eye for players), Wiley, and now Campen say Corbett has the goods. He’s no Cam Erving. Sure, he has a lot to prove, but those who have an eye for talent and those who have watched him vs NFL’ers say he’ll be fine.
I just don’t see a huge drop off for our O line. Tony “mr negative” Grossi says O-line is stilll a team strength. And everything says we’ll still have an elite interior 3, as we already have 2 of the three at a high level, which is ahead of most teams.
How about a Mahomes vs Baker situation comparison?
KC’s center - all back ups. Austin Reiter is their current best option.
CB’s center - Trett is the 3rd ranked pass blocking center.
KC’s LG - is Cam Erving. We’ don’t need PFF to tell us he’s bad, but he’s PFF’s 75th, out of 77.
CB’s LG - is Bitonio. #2 ranked pass blocking guard, #5 ranked guard overall.
KC’s RG - is A. Wiley. He’s okay. Serviceable. 28th ranked blocker.
CB’s RG - is (near 1st round pick) Corbett, who those closest to him feel he’s gonna be good.
KC’s LT - is Fisher, ranked 26th. But, our back-up LT, Lamm, had a better p-blocking grade.
CB’s LT - is G-Rob. Who isn’t ranked highly, but is proven in the Baker-Freddie system.
KC’s RT - is Mitchell Schwartz. He’s damn good.
KC’s RT- is the serviceable Hubbard, who settled in.
Kush, our new back-up guard is pretty good. Their guards have pass blocking grades of 42 and 63. Kush’s pass blocking grade is 80.
So, I’m not worried about our interior line. It’s damn good even though we have a sophomore at RG.
Our tackles don’t get great grades, but they were here last year and did well. No guess work.
And while Mahomes has maybe lost Hill, Baker has gained OBJ. And Hunt has switched teams.
