Kind of an update without a link cuz I can't: Callahan into his film review, thinks Wyatt Teller can be a long-term starting RG. Likes him a lot.

So many ways to go as they get the OL right. But once the dust clears, thinking Teller V. Forbes at RG for the most part. Could bring in another IOL to compete as well with two of the three becoming key backups (along with Lamm).

EDIT, UPDATE: Apparently this has been Tweeted about: Callahan had Teller as the best guard in his draft class, very high on him. One of the Insiders was asked if this would impact signing somebody like Thuney and he said yes. Because Thuney will get an out-sized contract, so if we have a potential starter in-house, definitely impacts.

Sounds more likely we'll add another IOL after R3.

Greco was saying this week the 2019 Browns O line rotating door was very hard on the unit. No cohesion, lack of trust and comfort, etc.

I’m 100% down on starting camp with Teller, Bitonio, and Trett for the IOL. Teller, like Bit and Tret, is a true blue glue offensive lineman. GRob, by contrast, was not.

Berry and Stef should absolutely listen to Callahan, more than anybody else in Berea. If Callahan is saying “leave my IOL alone, and get me some OT’s”, then that’s that. You do it.

Sign Vaitai, cut Hubbard, then draft Andrew Thomas and give him #73.
 
That is a plan that's kind of falling into place, Ocon. I feel it. Vaitai was the 20th tackle last year, did not realize that, and clearly has connections to Berry. Bringing in Vaitai and Wirfs/Thomas is precisely what the doctor ordered.

Then get another IOL later, like 6th. That's where you get developmental backup IOLs. Needs to play some center, joins Lamm and Forbes as primary backups. Wirfs/Bitonio/Tretter/Teller/Vaitai the starters... and keep them all in place for a while.

Callahan gives me so much confidence. His seal of approval is good enough for me.
 
Interesting take on OLs:

- Andrew Thomas comp is Jason Peters. Read that several times.
- Ezra Cleveland isn't just a freak athlete. Called a more polished Brian O'Neill. Latter was the OT freak of his own class, had a really strong year in 2019 for Vikings at RT. Point: If O'Neill were more polished, he would've probably gone top 10.
- Wills seems like an almost unanimous bad fit for us. Great player but his biggest issue is what OZB needs most, lateral movement.
- Again: Wirfs, Thomas, Jones, Cleveland. From multiple sources.
 
Serious deep dish on Teller, ups and downs but overall improvement arc, 3 of his last 4 starts were excellent with one weird reversion game. Conclusion: He should be the starting RG.

Callahan loves him, he's still growing and has his best football ahead of him, gets a full training camp at RG with said elite OLC, showed more than enough promise. And oh, yeah, Hubbard sucks really bad and having a competent RT will also help. Oh yeah, again, we have to replace two tackles so Teller stepping up is huge.

Wow, the Browns sure do like Ezra Cleveland, the Combine star and Sobleski fave. They're the only one on all three visit thingies, Combine Official, Private Meetings, Private Workout.

That's one to watch if you're willing to draft above current projection, like at 15 where you'd still have an alternative if hell froze over. If he's the guy you like best and you feel really confident he'll be there... maybe.

But I remember when Mahomes was considered a surprise if he went so high as 12. Needed time.
 
I seriously hope this FO does not trade down. That's a chicken shit move when there will be a Tackle sitting there for us at 10. Just take him and let the rest of teams figure out that they will not have him.
 
The heavy love for Ezra is making me rub my chin a bit. It's a lot. I wonder if the Browns sit at 10 to see if their guy or guys is there... while knowing they could trade down to 15 and take Cleveland. Like if Wirfs is there, they take him... if not, Cleveland at 15 with an extra 2nd.

The trade would be pre-arranged. The main thing for me is that the Browns don't do a LT version of "whatever's left at 4." If they target the guy they love for this system and Callahan and get him, I don't care if it's at 10 or 15.
 
Update: Browns have until June 1st on Hubbard and will hold onto him for multiple reasons. First, to make sure they don't end up needing him, but mostly so they can find out if somebody gets desperate enough after free agency and the draft to trade something for him.

And Bulaga and Conklin, the top two RTs, are both very much in play for the Browns.
 
I agree with Jay,
Don’t outsmart yourself if there’s a tackle that fits
our scheme at ten then grab him and move on.
Trading down with the holes we have isn’t worth
it, and it’s never worked out for us.
The way I see this upcoming season going is our
offense is going to carry us because our defense
is still weak.
 
The only way, to me, we don't draft OT @ 10 is if the Avenger falls to us. Otherwise, you take the tackle.

He's projected as the last big potential fuck-up for the Browns draft. I would die. I must have some setting on my computer that keeps changing his name to "Aaron Curry." Please no. Safety or OBLB or both, not a top 10 pick for my franchise, not that anybody has to care.

Feels like Pro Bowls instead of Super Bowls.
 
I'll be down for it if we do it (Vaitai), just have a really high degree of trust in the combination of an analytical front office and one of the best OL coaches to ever hold the title.

Seems like a million ways to go. Trent Williams, getting cheaper, the platinum plan? Conklin or Bulaga? Haeg, Vaitai, the Vikings dude? Wirfs, Thomas, Cleveland? Gonna be interesting.

I agree we are a playoff caliber team, on paper.
Nobody could have predicted what we saw in the
first game against the Titans, talk about popping
the balloon!
When it comes down to it we need a Conklin and
the best rookie tackle we can get and a TE then it’s
up to the coaching staff to bring them up to the level
of play we expect.
Defensively we have work to do outside of Myles,Ward
Greedy and Wilson were short to the point that we see
Schobert as an all pro when he isn’t, keeping Schobert seems
like an attempt to stay mediocre just for the sake of not
losing a decent player rather than bringing in the best of
the best either through the draft or f/a.
I’m thinking between Stefanski and his coaches we have the
connections to get what we need on defense, it’s not just a
Cleveland thing anymore it’s who do you want to play for and
Familiarity can only increase our chances of landing who we
want and need,atleast that’s how I see it...
 
Ezra ain't making it to 41. He'll go by the end of R1. He may or may not have passed Jones, depending on whom you ask, but if the draft were today, he doesn't get out of R1.

Here's a scenario: The Browns trade a 3rd this year, a player, and a 3rd next year for Trent Williams. Great trade. Four good years of one of the league's best LTs, right in our window. Love it. Top 5 LT, top 5 RB, top 5 WR1, top 10 QB (I firmly believe). Win games.

That's where I could envision us risking a minor trade-down to add another premium pick, like down to 15 or 16, pick up an extra 2nd. Wirfs, Wills, and Becton are gone but you know you love Thomas, Jones, and Cleveland, consider them excellent fits for your scheme.

You could do that. You'd still have the cover of your 41 if something went unthinkably wrong, plus the 47 or 48.
