Jeremiah and Brooks did a Twitter draft together, alternating. DJ took Wills over Wirfs at 10, which I believe would put him in the minority. But I'd sure as hell take it.

Imagining Trent Williams on one side, Wills on the other. Not just a better line. A great line.

(EDIT: Cleveland and Jones went 29/30. Think I got that wrong somewhere else. Austin Jackson went ahead of both. Point being, we can't wait until 41 for damn sure.)

As of today, you could trade to 16 and feel confident Jackson, Cleveland, and Jones would all be there. But after the trade, with everybody knowing what you want? Hmm. One could get snatched at 15.

More on Ezra: Browns have been scouting him for two years, so back to Berry's first go-round. Extremely high on him, semi bummed that he blew up as hugely as he did at the Combine, definitely not an option at 41 anymore.

But nobody is. Jones, Cleveland, and Jackson will all be gone.

Asking Shep if he's trying to hide his constant erection is like asking Q if he tries to hide being a Clemson fan.

Shep has never shuffled past a vase without it breaking. His blood type is Viagra.
 
Absolutely love the Conklin signing and it feels like the Browns are going to address left tackle and right guard through the draft. As much as I loved John Dorsey as the Browns GM, one of his biggest pitfalls last season was not addressing the offensive line. I love that Berry is working on this now. If we get some talent and then some consistency on the line, that can only help the offense thrive this season. We have plenty of weapons now.
 
Teller will start at RG unless he shits the bed, T. Forbes will compete but it sure feels like Callahan has all but blessed Teller. Loved him in the draft and he gets his first full training camp as a RG. He and Conklin could form a brutal run-blocking OZB duo. I know Chubb is thinking about that.

Starting LT will be Wirfs, Thomas, Becton, Cleveland, or Jones. I really don't see Trent, especially as we're closing in on giving up a pick for Anthony Harris. Every mock has all those guys going in R1, so we won't risk it below the teens... and it's about 99% we take our guy at 10.

I like Wirfs, but he has RT tattooed on his forehead. Although, I'd still be intrigued to see an attempt to transition to LT in the NFL. He's played about a half dozen games at LT in college, including a bowl game, so it could work. Any issues he has are technique issues, but he has the tools (power and athleticism).

No, just no to Thomas. Slow footed, smashmouth type with limited athleticism.

Becton has the tools but needs to clean up some technique issues. He suffers from the all the same things that other long, tall OLs suffer. He just needs to learn how to stay low, hit early, keep his man close, and maintain his balance.

Cleveland has the most nimble and athletic feet of any OL in the draft. He lacks some functional strength, but it may be enough to suffice. He could afford to to improve his strength at the expense of losing some athleticism and he'd still be the most nimble OL out there.

Jones is like looking at a foundation, but you still have to build the house, which is 90% of the process. I don't want to risk all of Baker's 9 lives while trying to get Jones up to par. 4th or 5th round project, at best.

Thanks for that, Al. Great stuff. I think a lot of people are higher on Thomas (including Jake Burns) but I love to read people who know way more than me about OL.

Wirfs will 100% be the pick if he's there. Freak athlete and history tells us RAS really matters. I haven't read much of any hesitation for him at LT among the people I trust in the Twitterverse. They love him like a son.

It's gonna be LT at 10. And Callahan will be deep into that discussion, if the early performance by our new organization is a tell, and it is. So I'll trust the pick. If it's Thomas, he was the right guy.
 
Thanks Shep. I'm trying incorporate system fit and think like a Cleveland Brown. Thomas will probably be spectacular for a power scheme, with some struggles in pass pro, but I just don't see him as a good fit for the ZBS.

I don't trust coaches. There's a level of arrogance, a somewhat necessary one, that they can mold any piece of clay and bake it into gold in the oven. I'll just use one example. Remember some QB whisperer talking about the ground moving under his feet a few years ago?

He's one guy and I don't wanna over-rely, but just five minutes ago, Sobo again said the obvious play would be the very experienced All American LT Andrew Thomas (as opposed to Jason Peters, in this case). The argument had been to go veteran at LT for the right-nowness of it, but Sobo thinks there are multiple right-now start LTs but Thomas being the right-nowest of the lot (!).

He's answered a lot of questions about it, says Thomas is pretty well above NFL average athletically and has a couple minor footwork things that'll clean up his ability to get to the outside zone.

He thinks Wirfs and Thomas are the two best fits, then Jones and Cleveland, but the Browns won't wait for the second two. Meaning they would rather have Becton or Wills, one of the clear top 4.

We need an interior guy for depth behind Bitonio, Tretter, and Teller.

Also wanna add: Joe Thomas also has anointed Andrew Thomas. To be clear, far from locked in, I trust whoever they decide is their long-term starter at LT in a terrific (but top heavy) OT draft.

But it'll be Wirfs, Thomas, Becton, or Wills (!). No doubt.
 
A (now) cheap back up veteran OT, and his forte is wide-ZBS. This isn't genius level stuff, but a smart move. We're gonna need familiar faces with the lack of off season contact.
