Browns - Todd Monken is the new HC | Page 3 | Barking Hard

Browns Todd Monken is the new HC

So, riddle me this.

1. We hire Schwartz as HC
2. We easily find a new DC
3. Who da fuck in his right mind, of any track record or quality, would want to be the OC? Who is the guy to turn the offensive production around?

There are plenty of OC's out there and available, and Schwartz has numerous connects. Schwartz at HC with his hand picked DC, with Brian Daboll at OC would be vastly superior to this shit show.

I’m just not sure any old OC will do.
Literally every OC job is more attractive than ours, sans AZ.
So if getting the 10th best OC for this hiring cycle would have been fine ….

I’m surprised. I thought youthful OC was type to be the hire. It’s definately not the sexy hire. Monken…. But his systems are efficient and work. I’m feeling better about it now than my initial shocked reaction. Who’s he bringing in? I’m actually kind of excited to see, since he’s got those SEC connections and has been around. I was rooting a bit for Schwartz…. But that ship seems to have sunk.. Go Browns. I say roll with Shedeur and Watson. Trade down a few slots with our first first rounder and build it. OT, WR’S and Guards = 6 of the 10 picks need to go there.

Same.

One of the knocks on Scheels & Udinski is who the heck would they be able to attract for assistants, being in the league for such little time, combined with we don't have an established QB1 (let alone we need a whole new OL and WR1).

One of the knocks on Schwartz is we'd be on an OC carousel, as if the OC was successful, he'd get poached, and if he wasn't, he'd get canned, and we'd be on a frustrating cycle. If Monken works out, he's also calling the plays, and thus continuity can be obtained.

Monken should be able to attract some solid assistants.

Warhop at least has experience but his pass pro seems questionable. I guess we'll be running the ball. A LOT!

Which is fine by me. Feed Judkins and hit them with a pass to our shiny new WR's. Maybe.

If it's true Monken wants to work with Watson that would be crazy if he got that guy back to good. Then I'd definitely consider trading him to get Arch. Hell him and Sanders for Arch!

Hell yeah, we have reached the point where we are giving this clown credit for holding Harbaugh 's coffee cup on the sidelines for him!

Now let's see what he has accomplished on his own merit, WITHOUT a Harbaugh drawing up the plate and telling him what to call:

2019 Cleveland(With Odell Beckam, Nick Chubb, Jarvis Landry AND Baker Mayfield): 22nd ranked Offense. Fired.

2026 Tampa Bay: 18 place. Fired.

Wow, what a fucking get! How were we so lucky to land a HC who has burned through a dozen College and NFL jobs over 20 years time?

There is no evidence he was Harbaugh's puppet.
In fact, Harbaugh is known for not calling plays of any kind.
Monken called the plays.

Oh, and Freddie called the plays in 2019. Not Monken.

And coordinators move around. It's the norm.

Dude. I mean. Dude.

I'm not saying he's a sure-fire-hire, but I'm also not going to shoot him in the feet while he's just now lining up to run the race.

ok,so hes not the worst candidate for OC or HC for that matter
JS has earnt his chance IMO to have another go at HC after over 10 years
how many great coaches got chewed up in detroit? how in hell did he last 5 years there?
we all have family right? this guy is family and he has fu^king rank on monken
monken would have to salute this man and he may offer him the job because of that fact.
fact.no wonder the guy burst into tears
insert crying emoji here..this is bad.

look around our division.we need to compete with PITT and the birds.we need an incredible D here.
just to sur-bibe . we cant do that with some idiot like woods for another 3 years
he was a rookie NFL DC too! lol
then a monken will be good here.he wont be any good with a crappy D will he?
you play great D and run the football.
welcome to the fu%king AFCN! others look away while we live here.
sooner or later you get lucky drafting or a QB falls into your lap for free (21?)
and hey presto based of a strong platform of D and run game you win! so platform first.
this sh&t isnt rocket surgery

I don't think it's a given that Schwartz leaves. Maybe the bridge is too burned (ie maybe his pride/ego is too bruised), but. . . remember when Myles requested a trade? Haslam could offer Schwartz a real nice renegotiated contract, and, Schwartz could come to his senses that he has no remaining HC opportunities AND his BEST move is to stay with an elite defense rather than go start over elsewhere with a lesser D. The more I think of it, if he were set on leaving because of this, he would have simply done so by now. The more this drags out, the more it tends towards him staying.
