Hey, I should read my own post. Isn't this the first time we've known the production BE needs to change the traded pick from a 3rd to a 2nd rounder? 55 it is. He has 8 so far, so 47 to go. So, he has to average 4.7 catches/game the rest of the way to bump us to the 2nd round.

Can't imagine a reason to trade Thomas. So we can do what? Get another 1st rd draft choice OT who we hope makes it to the Pro Bowl? Ain't gonna happen.

The real bummer here is if we trade for a pile of draft pick today, then we're officially talking draft here for the next 6 months. :(

I'm afraid you're right. Seen nothing, nada, zilch in the past few games to suggest we're getting any better, especially on defense so it's draft day talk from here on incursin

Ghoolie...is that you??? ;):D

It will be our luck that BE will drop the pass that kicks in the better draft pick, and he will end up one catch short.:p

Oh yeah, our luck IS that damn bad.

I feel bad for Quinn right now, Mangini is shitting on his sole in the papers and interviews. If we trade Quinn, I hope for his sake he goes to Tampa Bay. That Quinn Winslow connection with TB's running game and Antonio Bryant could be sick

The fire sale idea is a good one and the only explanation as to why we didnt go that route was mangini wanted to see for himself under his own coaching skills what he truely had before burning it down.
He set the tone early by trading KII to let players know they better step and then it became time to evaluate.
JMO...

Just curious....the trade of lito shepperd has hit its escalators already which makes the Jets give the Eagles their third round pick......as of now the Jets do not have a third round pick because phily gets it....so do the Browns then get the jets second round pick even if BE doesn't hit his escalators?

Interesting question,
I dont know the rules on that but i'd be curious to see what people who know something about this give us a rundown on what the rules are.

Just read something that set off a lightbulb in my head.

The Rams are looking to off Steven Jackson and are in need of a QB

what if the Browns did Quinn and a 4th (or 3rd) for Steven Jackson?

I hope not, thats all I can say.

I can see Mangini's ego making this trade, Steven Jackson played with DA in college

I'm gonna repeat what I said in chat: No way the Rams will be willing to give away their only play maker. Pretty much the entire Rams playbook is centered around Jackson.

Plus we dont really need a RB that bad. No where near as bad as we need a playmaking WR.

Some highlights from James Walker's blog yesterday and today over at ESPN.

Here is an interesting question: What is the identity of Cleveland’s offense? Six games into the season, there’s no clear answer. In Week 4, the Browns went vertical with quarterback Derek Anderson during an overtime loss to the Cincinnati Bengals. In Week 5, Cleveland pounded the ball with Jamal Lewis to beat the Buffalo Bills. In Week 6, the Browns ran the Wildcat offense with Joshua Cribbs more than they had all season. A lack of identity has been a major problem in Cleveland since it rejoined the league in 1999, and it’s showing up again through the first six games of 2009. (Eric Mangini: It's a Process, ala Denise Richards: It's Complicated)

Rumors have been circulation involving some big names in the past week, including Cleveland Browns quarterback Brady Quinn and return specialist Joshua Cribbs. All indications are both players will remain in Cleveland past Tuesday’s deadline. Browns defensive lineman Corey Williams is another name to look out for this week.

Cleveland Browns coach Eric Mangini says nothing is imminent for the trade deadline.
Morning take: At 1-5, some Browns are certainly available. If I had to pick one player with the best chance to be shipped, it would be defensive lineman Corey Williams.

Last week: No. 28

Current ranking: No. 29

Analysis: For an inconsistent team on the field, the Browns have surely remained consistent in the power rankings. Cleveland has been either No. 28 or No. 29 every week, and after losing to Pittsburgh the Browns dropped one spot back to No. 29. As long as Cleveland has a win under its belt, expect the Browns to remain above winless teams like the St. Louis Rams, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Tennessee Titans.

ESPN.com’s John Clayton doesn’t expect Cleveland Browns quarterback Brady Quinn or Buffalo Bills receiver Terrell Owens to be moved before today’s trade deadline. There were rumors the Baltimore Ravens may have had interest in Owens.

Here's the thing. I am all for game planning for your opponnent and looking to attack their weakness and hide yours. Infact I think that was exactly the idea with the game plans in Buffalo and Pitt. Unfortunately the situational playcalling and lack of execution are where the problems lie.
