Browns - Monken's staff | Page 4 | Barking Hard

Browns Monken's staff

It's entirely possible Schwartz & Monken spoke about what type of working relationship they both desired to have & Schwartz just didn't think they were going to work well together, that they'd be butting heads as co-elder statesmen rather than Schwartz being alone in that like he was with Kevin.

To be fair to him, I can see that being a really difficult and even simply untenable situation. Perhaps Monken indicated he was going to want to have more involvement than Kevin did, and Schwartz just didn't feel like giving a go at crossing his fingers and hoping they vibed welI enough to be in close daily collaboration.

I'd much rather him be honest & decisive about that & walk away now, than, wait & see & have some in-season distracting blow-up, or worse yet, a slow burn, steady build of internal tension & strife to a distracting breakup.

I don't believe coordinators can be traded. We either work out a deal to release him from the contract or prevent him from working.
Interesting:

"Trade for Contractual Rights: Since Schwartz resigned but remains under contract with the Browns through 2026, any team wishing to hire him for a coordinator or other position must negotiate with the Browns and likely trade draft picks as compensation for breaking his current contract. This is similar to the situation involving Sean Payton and the New Orleans Saints."

AI says a 5th is a possible comp. 🤷‍♂️
We do love 5ths.
However, theirs is no precedent.
And I think, all a team has to do is give him a pseudo-promotion, like assistant-HC/DC and voila, he’s gone.

I'm over it... I don't care anymore... I'm more concerned about what's happening in the here and now.. He acted like a bitch..... In one regard I don't blame him but still.. Be a professional.. When I got kicked out of a band once I just smiled and said.. Yeah.. Okay.. then they broke up like 2-3 months later.. I just moved on to the next phase... That's what the Browns need to focus on... Also the fans...

COORDINATORS CANNOT BE TRADED FOR DRAFT PICKS. If a coach is under contract that contract can be honored, terminated, or blocked from lateral moves. Coordinators can not be blocked from moving to HEAD coaching positions; and even then, there is no draft pick compensation within the framework of league rules. NO trades of any kind can be made for a coordinator or an assistant of any kind. The workaround is allowing a coach out of a contract and a lopsided player trade for draft picks.. but that's about it. After your post I looked into this further.

But like MKC said, and I agree with, you let every coach out of his contract who doesn't want to be here any more, and that'll be a known thing. "Go to Cleveland. They let ya leave if ya want to".

He's been paid very well, and signed the contract. Getting passed over on a promotion happens every day in this country.
Man up, Jim. You signed the contract. If you want to quit and stay home without more paychecks, that's fine.
But, to then asks the Browns for a favor, and let you out of it? I'm calling bullshit on that.

Someone said there is a work around (Florio?) whereby the Browns and Raiders make a mildly lopsided player/pick trade, with the verbal agreement the Browns will release Schwartz. I'm not sure that's really a thing though.
