Browns - Pick #144, Sheduer Sanders, QB, Colorado | Page 15 | Barking Hard

Browns Pick #144, Sheduer Sanders, QB, Colorado

It’s gonna be interesting.

First (or early 2nd) round grades were by the evaluators with film-only access.

Mid draft grades were by the teams, who had film + interview + “circus considerations/worries”.

Wonder if the film will be the truth in the end, and the rest was just overthinking. 🤔

We’ll see.

I’m pulling for him of course as I think he has he has best shot at being the answer of the three 20-something’s.

I never once bought the circus stuff. Manziel was a mess. Watson, also a mess. Mayfield had tape fleeing the police while drunk. Sanders has none of that. So what he has a brand (Legendary) and had a draft party. And a player with a HOF dad who makes a mild comment now and then shouldn’t trigger anyone after what this team has been through.

SS has done, and said, all the right things so far. Stays after practice, has yet to have a rookie down-day, and handles the media with ease.

A I said... I'm taking guarded optimism with him... So far I'm impressed with his commitment... Lets hope going forward he maintains that feeling.....

However this turns out, the Browns come out golden. We got the guy everyone thought we would draft at #2 in the 5th round. So if he's really good? Hooray! If he washes out? Oh well. We're set up nice for next year's draft.

I'm optimistic about him. He's a worker and a gamer and has been playing QB at a high level at every stage. Will he be talented enough for the NFL? I hope so.

Absolutely. Actual NFL teams have much more film, scouting,, interviews with players/coaches who have been around the prospect, have actually spoken to players, have legal background checks, etc.
While I can agree with some of that. the spending of money part for sure. but the track record of the results not so much. too many 4th & 5th round guys in the Hall of Fame. more recently Brock Purdy @ 50 million. the total failure by these teams year after year says they are guessing just as much as people on the outside. with social media hard to have secrets anymore.
Plus many of the outsiders have worked in the inside and now make their living out here.

Everyone agreed on this draft was going to be weak at QB back at 2024 draft time. and Sanders was ranked high everywhere & everyone out here is saying they've NEVER seen anything like this happen before. imo he would've been drafted in or before 5th round last year in a strong QB draft class.
I say you have to go back to Warren Moon to find a QB getting for lack of another saying "black balled" like this.

My take is Sheduer said something in a private setting that we still haven't heard. it must of been a doozy. and it traveled.

After the draft this was discussed and it was determined that Shedeur didn't interview well at all.
I believe the people that interviewed him wouldn't say too much about that because they had their own worries and priorities to tend to.
After the Browns passed on him six times they chose to dispense with some small value draft capital and moved into the fifth and took him.
There's a good chance the Seahawks might eventually regret sending that pick to the Browns.
Since then Shedeur's done damn little to give the Browns faithful anything to complain about.
His story is just getting started.
Eventually the "don't touch the QB" jersey has to come off and he's going to have to show he can process and pass at an NFL level.
We're all hoping he'll be far more than just another name on that damn jersey.

The everyone here is the media. The same media hyping COL as legit contending team.

The folks who do draft "evaluations" from a media side, even if have worker for NFL teams, are not pouring of the amount of tape as those paid by NFL teams, and whose jobs are actually dependent on their evaluations. The media evaluators are not watching a fraction of the amount of film. Nor are they typically going to be knowing all the different offenses, defenses, and play designs they are trying to make their evaluation based upon.

Yes, great players do happen to occasionally come from picks later. Guys who maybe the film and interviews didn't ultimately line up with how they ultimately played. At the QB position, yeah you got your Brady, your Montana. More recently, a Purdy has turned out. So sure, if we want to say NFL teams miss evaluate at times, no doubt. Not at the clip the media evaluators do.

To date, in the history of the NFL there are 42 drafted after the first round (or undrafted) who are in the hall of fame. That is less than 0.2%

He doesn't have to be a Hall of Fame player to be a very good NFL QB. That's all we need of him. There are way more than .2% of late round picks who become solid NFL players.

I don't think for a minute Sanders fell based only on his talent evaluations. I could understand if that had dropped him to a 3rd round pick. But I think him dropping to the 5th was more a result of how he approached the draft process - like he was as sure of thing as his dad had been when he was drafted.

Nevertheless, as I have said, the reason for his fall doesn't matter. If he ends up being a good NFL QB, him going to us in the 5th will be a great thing. If he doesn't, oh well.

That's broad. imo you got be earning $$.

Just a opinion. there are no evaluators of the evaluators. I'm sure you have seen people work harder for something they care for than they will for monies.
